"We all have a story to be told. Some you'll find new, and some may be old. So, pull up a chair and sit a spell, so that OUR stories we can tell."

A Cat's Tale is a not-for profit rescue organization that cares for stray, abandoned, and orphaned cats and kittens. All of our cats are attended to medically; each is spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested for FeLv/FIV. We then being the search for loving and permanent indoor only homes.

UPCOMING ADOPTION EVENTS

We continue to have adoptions each Saturday in May and June at the Culver City PETCO. The dates are May 29 and June 5, 12, 19, and 26.  Culver City PETCO is located at 5347 South Sepulveda Boulevard, Culver City CA 90230.

Culver City PETCO
(310) 390-7255    Reach us on Saturdays from 11:00 Am to 4:00 PM

Please do not bring cats or kittens to PETCO without making prior arrangements with a rescue volunteer.  We are not a shelter or facility and cats are fostered in the individual homes of volunteers.
We dream of the day when there will be no more homeless pets in the Los Angeles Area and we hope we can educate and inform people about spay/neuter programs in their area to meet that goal.

Newsflash!  Between March 25 and May 14 (extended date), we have an wonderful opportunity to qualify for an additional $750 from Janus Mutual Funds as part of the Janus Charity Challenge at Ironman St. George.  Our wonderful athlete, Alison Chavez of the Los Angeles Triathlon Club will be completing an Ironman (that's a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run) for A Cat's Tale!  We need to raise $750 on our own to qualify for the additional $750 grant.  All donations are tax deductible.  You can pledge a donation by email at info@acatstale.org or go to the Ironman St. George A Cat's Tale donation page here - A Cat's Tale Ironman St. George.  In the middle of this page is a donation box.  Enter the amount you wish to donate (all donations are tax deductible) and click Continue.  It is very easy and secure!

March 25, 2010 - Newsflash!  Between March 25 and April 30, we have an wonderful opportunity to qualify for an additional $750 from Janus Mutual Funds as part of the Janus Charity Challenge at Ironman St.

March 11, 2010 - We will be having adoptions each Saturday in March.  The dates are March 6, 13, 20, and 27.  No kitties were adopted on March 6.  Lily, a 10-year old female cat was adopted on February 27.  No kitties were adopted on February 20.

February 16, 2010 - No, yup zero, kitties were adopted on February 13 - the day before Valentine's Day.  Most people want kittens now.  We still have many kittens from LAST year who are still looking for homes.  Adopt an adult cat instead and they will be grateful to be inside, warm, and well fed.  Adult cats are grateful to find a family.  Google the benefits of adopting an adult cat and see for yourself.

February 9, 2010 - We are sorry that we were not at adoptions Saturday, February 6. Our director was at home recovering from surgery. We will have adoptions this Saturday, February 13. Bring home a valentine!

January 25, 2010 - We will be having adoptions this Saturday, January 30.  We will also have adoptions each Saturday in February.  The dates are February 6, 13, 20, and 27.

January 23-24, 2010 - We will be having a fantastic garage sale from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to raise funds for our medical supplies.  Animal items, books, books on tape, linens (towels, sheets, etc.), vintage cookbooks, and other fun items will be available.  The garage sale will be held Saturday January 23 and Sunday January 24 and will be at 3542 West 139th Street Hawthorne CA 90250.  Please email us if you wish to donate items at info@acatstale.org.

We will not be holding adoptions on January 23 so we can focus on raising funds through the garage sale.

January 8, 2010 - Start the new year with a companion cat or kitten.  The SPCA-LA assisted an elderly woman in the San Fernando Valley who had become overwhelmed with nearly 100 cats she'd taken in.  A Cat's Tale stepped up and took 6 adult cats and is now looking for homes for them.  These cats would be good with adult companions and deserve a second chance.  Please email us at info@acatstale.org to schedule an adoption appointment at our adoption site in PETCO Culver City or for more information (like cute pictures).  Very few people stepped forward to help this situation so if you are looking for second chance kitties this is the perfect place to start.  More information on this story can be found at the Daily Breeze - South Bay Pets.  Pictures of these beautiful adult cats can be found at our petfinder site - View Available Cats.

OUR SPAY/NEUTER FUND IS LOW

Kitten season is still in full swing this month and we still have nearly 50 infant and adolescent kittens in foster care. A Cat's Tale needs your assistance to front the medical expenses of spaying and neutering our cats and kittens in foster care prior to adoption. Please use our donation link below if you are able to help us... every $1 gift counts.

We are also asking the south beach communities to donate items to assist us in caring for these new little ones. Products such as baby shampoo, baby wipes, kitten food, kitten milk replacement, meat baby food jars, and pine litter can be directed to any rescue volunteer or donated at PETCO and earmarked for A Cat's Tale. Thank you so much for thinking of us as you doing your pet or grocery shopping!

SPAY AND NEUTER RESOURCES

Reducing pet overpopulation is an important goal for A Cat's Tale. Too many pets and not enough homes results in the euthanasia of adoptable pets. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that 4-5 million pets are euthanized in our nation's shelters every year mainly due to overcrowding. Approximately 70% of these euthanized animals are cats.  This tragedy could be eliminated if all pets were sterilized.

ABOUT OUR CATS

Our "rescues" are often just babies who require bottle feeding and hand rearing, kittens or cats found in local neighborhoods or shelters, or older cats relinquished by their owners to us or to area shelters. Our cats are cared for in a network of wonderful foster homes while they patiently wait for adoption.
