It is the policy of our organization to require a financial donation* when adopting a cat/kitten.  This donation only partially covers the cost of feeding, vaccinations, spay/neuter, flea treatments and other medical attention covered by the rescue's funds.  *Please check with your accountant with regard to your adoption donation being tax deductible.

We use the following guidelines:

  • Domestic and fancy mixes: $125.00
  • Senior cats (over 5 years old) are adopted to senior citizens at a reduced cost
  • Ask us about our special pricing for adopting two kittens together

Kittens are placed with various foster families until adoption.  Kittens are a lifelong commitment and the decision to adopt should be a thoughtful one.

All animals placed are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested.  Additional care is provided as needed to ensure the health of each animal.  To the best of our knowledge, all the animals we show at our adoption events are in good health.

We have invested a great deal in our "rescues", and want you and your new kitty to have a long lasting relationship together.  We offer an exchange policy if a cat does not adjust at your home after a reasonable time period.  The owner may return a cat to us for any reason.

All of our cats and kittens are fostered in individual volunteer fosters homes.  To inquire about a specific kitty or to request that a cat be brought to our Saturday adoptions at the Culver City PETCO to meet you, please email info@acatstale.org with your contact information and comments.

A CAT'S TALE AND HAPPY TALES

November 29, 2009

Hi Darla and Elizabeth, We'd like to thank you again for the wonderful kitten that you have cared for for us.  The little calico is growing up fast and she's doing great!  Here is a success story and some pictures that we'd like to share on your website.

Thanks, Joanne and Julian

Hello, my name is Katsudon.  I am a calico kitten.  I have a story to tell you.  It is about my life so far.

I was born in the wild wild suburbs.  My mommy looked after me as well as she could.  We slept outside and my mommy had a hard time looking for food so she could have enough milk to feed me.  One day, I was picked up and taken to a house.  I heard them say the names Darla and Elizabeth a lot.  I think that's the name of the people that rescued me.  They were nice, and fed me, and gave me clean water...and toys.  I met a lot of other kittens there.  They were a lot like me...homeless.

The other kittens told me stories that they were taken away every weekend for other people to look at us.  Sometimes, one or two of them didn't come home.  That scared me.  It sounded pretty sinister.  But my new friends told me that it was a good thing.  They moving into other peoples homes, where they would get a lot of food, and water, and toys, and love.

Soon after, Darla and Elizabeth took me to a big pet heaven.  It was called Petco, and it had isles and isles of FOOD!  And TOYS!  Many people came by and looked in on me....I tried my hardest to look as pretty as I could.  I was scared, but I am a proud kitten.  I wanted to be given a new home, but I hoped my new people were going to be nice.

Later that day, there was a big guy and a small lady that walked into the store.  I noticed them because they had a bag with another kitten in it.  They had just come from a vet visit and was getting new supplies for him.  He said his name was Loki Monster.  He said that he had just been adopted about a month earlier by these two people.  He was having a lot of fun playing and eating and sleeping.  Though he did not like car rides.  The one thing he said that made him sad was that he got lonely some days when he was left alone.

To my surprise, the small lady asked to see me.  She picked me up and stroked me.  She was nice.  Then to my surprise, they said they would take me home with them!  I was so happy.  But I had to wait a few more days.  I had to get an operation that my care givers said would benefit me.  So the next day, I got "fixed"....though I was unaware that I was broken.  My belly fur was shaved, and I had some stitches.  I felt sleepy and funny too.  The other kittens comforted me and said that the fur would grow back.  Phewh...I thought I was gonna be bald there forever!

A few days later, the small lady and the big guy came back to pick me up and take me home.  Elizabeth gave me my little toy mouse as a goodbye gift.  I was sad to go and said goodbye to my friends, but I was getting ready for a new life.  It took me a few days to settle in, but I was getting a lot of food.  My new friend Loki is a little annoying, but he was so happy to have someone else to play with.  My new mommy gave me a name straight away...Katsudon.  She said it's related to food....I don't really care though....I get food, sleep and play...

I am still learning about the people that I live with.  They seem nice, I get daily food.  But they took me to a place like where I got fixed, and got a few injections.  It scared me.  But I am trying to be a big girl.  They still do scare me a little, but I am starting to think that my new mommy and daddy do love me...so I don't run away as much anymore.  I even sleep in a basket at the bottom of their bed with my friend Loki.

Thanks A Cat's Tale!

Joanne and Julian
